Power and Performance
The Ford Explorer's base engine is a 300-horsepower 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine with Auto Start/Stop technology and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Gilman drivers can also pick a 3.3-liter 318 horsepower V6 or a 400-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, which are available on select Ford Explorer models.
Other standard power and performance features include rear-wheel drive, terrain management system and trailer sway control. All-wheel drive, hill descent control, engine block heater and sport suspension tuning are optional features.
Interior and Exterior
The standard base trim offers Fowler, IN shoppers tri-zone auto climate control, power-adjustable driver's seat, cloth seats and 50/50 split-folding rear seats. On higher trims, you can find amenities like heated front seats, heated second-row seats, ambient interior lighting, heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and heated exterior power-folding mirrors.
Some base exterior features include power liftgate, capless fuel filter, LED headlights, body color rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. Higher trims offer St. Anne drivers sturdy roof rails, 20-inch alloy wheels, front tow hooks, underbody skid plates and extra exterior chrome trim.
Tech and Safety
The new Ford Explorer offers plenty of tech and entertainment features as standard, including several USB ports throughout the cabin, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, Ford Pass Connect, an 8-inch touchscreen display and six speakers. Higher trims can come with a 12-speaker sound system, wireless charging, HD Radio™, SiriusXM® and a voice-activated infotainment system.
The Ford Co-Pilot360™ comes standard on all Ford Explorer trims, which gives you six advanced driver safety features. Forward collision mitigation is a Ford Co-Pilot360™ feature that alerts you to a potential collision and applies the brakes. The Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+ adds evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane centering and traffic sign recognition.
